I can't afford a 57 chevy Dinsmore compass, so I bought a cheapo, yet still cool, Airway compass. I'm trying to figure out how to make the light work. It came with a small light bulb and a very low brow piece of copper wire curled to look like a spring... There's a small metal*****on on the front of the compass that just pushes in. Is anyone familiar with hooking up the light function?
Sounds like you would run voltage to the wire and when you push the*****on it would complete the circuit to make the bulb light.
I have an old Airguide compass . It has a light that runs via a AA battery that slides into the back , & the*****on on the front is actually part of the "pod" that houses the battery , light &*****on . I hope that makes sense - I'm****uming yours works the same . I may eventually change mine over to 12v & an LED light inside that goes on with the car's lamps .
Yes I believe mine is the same setup. The airway takes a AAA battery and it also goes on the back, you remove this small round plastic cover that I****ume holds the battery in. I can't for the life of me understand how it will work though. Like where the battery grounds to and all that. Can you tell me the sequence everything goes in? Like beginning with the front contact*****on, all the insides like battery, light bulb and spring? Then the end cap being the last.
I'll try to remember - There's a clear tube with the*****on on the end , followed by the bulb , then the spring goes against the threaded-end of the bulb , followed up by the battery , which tucks into the threaded endcap/plug . I'm****uming it grounds through the endcap somehow . Don't really know off the top of my head - that's all the parts ...
Yes that's right! The spring grounds the body of the battery to the body of the bulb. I just need to find a spring that works. I'm a bit disappointed because when I ordered the compass, I thought the*****on was an on/off*****on, but it's momentary. Thanks for the help
