    Hey everyone,

I just picked big bearing 9" with a 2 3/8" brake standout. I'd like to piece together some drum brakes for it as it some with none. I also have a mid-60's complete 8" rearend and i read that if my 9" was a small bearing housing I could swap over the 8" brakes.

My question is, if I just track down big bearing 9" backing plates, can I use the guts and drums from the 8" to complete it?

    Thanks!

There is no right answer to your question. Ford has so many different combo's it is impossibble to tell, some axles have 2 3/8 from the bearing to the face of the axle, others have 2 1/2, and yet some have 2 3/4 then you get into the bearing size also different bolt spacing on the axle housing ends.

  3. I know you didn't mention it but you can "junk yard" a set of disc brakes from a Ford Explorer.

It's just a thought as well as a cheap alternative.

We have the Ford Racing 11 inch complete brake and drum kit to fit your housing on sale and we will ship to Canada.
    Simple bolt on.
Just add brake lines and go or rather stop LOL.

No, the 8" parts will not fit the big bearing 9" rear end. If you have a small bearing 9" rear end, the parts would most likely fit as long as the brake offset was the same.
