Hi Guys, I'm trying to replace the gl*** runs in my 56 two door. My manual explains how to remove the division bar without taking the gl*** out, but I'm wondering if you can remove the rear gl*** run with the window still in place. Anybody out there have experience with this, or any tips to make the job not look like a real PITA. Thanks, Paul Selfe.

I am certainly not an expert on this one, but I am currently doing it on mine. I tried to figure out a way to replace it without removing the gl***, but I just didnt see how it was going to work, at least easily. Now, I am not installing factory channels either, so mine dont have the clips to pop in place, I am 3m weatherstripping my new channels in. I removed the clips to the rollers and got the door gl*** out pretty easily by myself. Went ahead and took the vent out also, it needs some work. I got one side glued in, but havent reinstalled the gl*** yet. While its out I am working on other things.

Here is a thread I had about it that you may find useful

I bought replacement gl*** door runs with the clips installed including the rears and am now of the opinion they are more trouble than they are worth. For the rear quarter windows I ended up taking them off, gluing them and pop riveting them into place. I retained the clips on the front windows.
I believe TeeBird Products have the rears with clips installed and prebent but shipping would be more of a problem than the straight ones I bought. I then found a better quality generic bailey channel here in Oz a whole lot cheaper but I already had them installed by then.
You need the gl*** out to get bailey channel support brackets out and glued onto the bailey channel. The gl*** is not that hard to get out if you follow what the manual says and watch the lower gl*** supports as they come up through the window opening. You just have to manoeuvre them to clear on the way out.

ctfortner, Thanks for the thread, I think it will be helpful. I don't have the replacements yet so I'm taking my time with this. Paul Selfe.

rick55, I think I will remove the gl***, I want to clean and lube the rollers anyway. I already removed the division bar and vent on one side, that wasn't too hard, even for a guy suffering a bad case of Sciatica. Thanks for your input. Paul Selfe.
