Ok so i have 8BA motor in my 35. This weekend i bought a chrome oil canister for it. Upon getting it home i inspected it, then tore of the other one. They look very much the same, but the old one has a eighth inch hole about half way up the center shaft. The chrome one only has a small pin hole at the bottom underneath the little stand thats down there. So what gives? I searched and am not even sure if i should run a filter now, but i kinda like the idea of filtering 10 % of my oil. I cant find a pluged up hole in it. Im not sure how i could even get a drain hole into that pipe, any ideas?
Here is a link on the subject. http://www.fordbarn.com/forum/showthread.php?t=16235&highlight=Oil+filter+restriction I use a filter although it was not done much on 21 studs I guess. I thought it annoying mounted on the head, made a bracket on the firewall for it & got grease gun hoses for flexibility. And I checked the inlet of the can to make sure the restrictor was in there.
That is interesting but not what i wanted. I have the restrictor going in the can its the drain hole thats the problem, the one that came off my motor is like an eighth inch. But the chrome one is freaking tiny and is below where the filter sits. so no oil would go through the filter.
