I´m trying to design the support for my fenders, and would be glad if there was any one who had some pictures that could give me ideas how to make them strong and still not to clumsy.

    Hi Stephan,

One way to make the fenders stronger is to make the sides a little deeper (start with a wider piece of metal)). It looks like you are using a mechanical shrinker to create shape. Have you ever tried tuck shrinking? It allows you to shrink more effectively without marking the panel with ridges that may turn into cracks.

I've attached a picture of a fender that was made using tuck shrinking. It is way more shape than you need, but may give you an idea what is possible with hand tools. Here is a link to some pictures from my instructional DVD on tuck shrinking:

To stiffen up a shallow fender like the one you have made, you could form an edge frame out of 1/4"x1/2" flat bar, and weld the metal to it. I would be worried about vibration and cracking...even having the fender come off at speed! A bracket to attach the fender would need to be well thought out.
