I've got a customer's car here. That is off-topic by 1 year and has a 454 big block with the full roller top end. One of the rocker arm pivot trunions broke And I'm trying to figure out what brand these are And have not been able to come up with anything. These are full roller rockers and 1.7 ratio with seven sixteenth studs. There are no part numbers or manufacturer stamps on them. And what I find is odd Is that they have a guide for the valve tip which I have not seen and no guide plates. Any help would be appreciated, thank you.
speedmaster these are Ford blue but same writing. Click pic three times https://www.summitracing.com/parts/sdm-pce261102104

I can find the correct ratio and full roller rocker arm. But not self aligning like this one. If I go to the regular type whole roller rocker arm. Then I have to run guide plates which is in a big deal. But I just figured. I'd try and see if I could buy one rocker arm.
I have never seen a Big Block Chev that doesn't use guide plates! They came stock with guide plates and as you can see the canted valve angle thrusts the rocker sideways so there is no way that self aligning guide tip on that rocker is going to last. If you want a reliable valve train you will need to install the proper guide plates and the correct non self aligning rockers!
I figure that's what I'm going to do. As for some reason, these don't exist on the internet anywhere And I also called a couple rocker arm companys and they don't know what to say about it and never heard of self aligning big block rockers.. And I want to get the job done by the weekend.
Chinese crap that loads of people sell as their own brand. Change the lot would be my suggestion. https://www.kmjperformance.com/i-31...m-roller-rocker-arms-1-7-ratio-7-16-stud.html https://www.performanceparts.nz/roller-rockers-chev-sb-1-5-x-7-16-stud-set
Yup, I agree it's just some junk. I'm gonna order guide plates and rockers right now. The pushrods are already chromaly steel so I don't need to get those
I ordered A good set of roller rockers and guide plates. The push rods are already chrome molly steel.thanks all
Just make sure that the pushrods are hardened for guide plates, just because they are supposed to be chrome moly does not necessairly mean that they are hardened.
I looked up the part number that was printed on them and says that they were hardened chromoly and made for guide plates.
A thought... Think stainless rockers from a reputable place. I ran MANY (almost 50,000) miles with Crower Stainless rockers in my small Chevy with zero problems. Mike
Take a 3 corner or any file to the push rod, if it cuts it, it's a soft push rod and the guide plates will eat them up. If it just skates then it's hard and good to go. Been down the road with moly push rods, ate them all if not hard.
Though I did look up the part number printed on it and it says they were hardened. I did your test and it passed.
Some of the big block pushrods have a pressed end that's about an inch long, that goes into the guide plate. Others don't.
There is a lot to be said about spending your money ONCE. I at least sleep better at night with name-brand valve train parts. I ran GM parts counter stamped rockers on my big block that saw 6500 RPMs when I was racing stock cars.
You're right about spending your money once for sure. This guy that bought the motor has no idea what was inside he was just awestruck when they told him it was 600 horsepower. Not that it's a slow car, but I've got a customer with a 327. That would whip this thing anytime and have driven both cars.
Nope, nothing goes there. Just loose bolts that were leaking coolant. The lock washers were too big around so I put some small flat washers underneath them.
