I was replacing the water pump on the comet, I tried to loosen one of the bolts, I got about a quarter turn on the bolt and It snapped in half...I have half a bolt sticking out of the block. I thought about using the two nut system to back it out, but there are no more threads on it...Any suggestions? Thanks

    Weld a nut to it.

Can you get to it and weld a nut on it? the heat may also help loosen the bolt. Try some Kroil too.

Have you tried to get a hold of it with vice grips ?,.... Once I tack welded a piece of 1/4" rod about 3" long to a busted off bolt at 90 degrees,... let it cool and backed it out. hope this helps.

Try some parrafin on the heated up bolt. Doesn'thaveto be real hot just enough to melt it. Creeps down the threads and loosens the rust. Parrafin can be found with the canning supplies at teh store.

I was going to weld the nut, but I thought I'd try the Vicegrips instead. I sprayed alot of PB on it, let it sit over night, tapped it with a hammer, and put everything I had into it and it broke loose and came out. Thanks for the input.

Just remember, even at that point, you still have options. I've broken tons of bolts. I still worry every time that it won't come out. They eventually do.

  11. I've come across this and used an "easy-out"
a cone shaped drill bit of sorts with reversed "threads"
I say threads cuz they aren't as steep cut as threads but these are rather more like ribs. drill a hole precisely in the center and run that ez-out down in there. I'd use some heat and percussive persuasion prior to - but have always had luck with this route.
    fwiw.
