Anyone in the Houston,Texas area, need help with my 1932 Ford 5 window coupe. My car was channeled about 4 inches over a model A frame. I've built a 32 frame and need help with unchannelling the body or maybe just channeling it a lesser amount , like one inch or so.

Just my opinion, but putting it back up on top of the rails will be a big job and pricey.

Any amount of a channel, now that it already does have a channel, will be far less work, and there won't be a need to buy expensive repro subrails, if you find the right builder to do it.

Yours is unchopped, so you should be fine with headroom.

Good luck with the car, it looks good.

  4. The A and 32 frames do not share many contact points at all.
Depends how the work was done it might be easy

They cut off the lower body bead from firewall to rear wheel area.

That is one big problem if you try to go highboy on top of the rails. The cowl sides would need lower patches welded on, as well as the lower rear quarters.

Decide where you want to go for $ spent, and what is important to you.

It's an old hotrod. Little things like that missing bead and a flat firewall are ok to me, if the rest of the build is old time.

Without seeing it, my first recommendation is to buy all new (reproduction) sub floor pieces. Even if the originals are there they're probably cut (hacked?) beyond reasonable reuse.

That wouldn't look all that bad if it weren't for the shorter wb of the model a frame vs the 32 frame. I think I would just channel it over the new deuce frame and call it good.

Looks way better now IMHO. Also, quick 5-21-13 four inch channel to 5-23-13 1.5 inch channel.

My deuce is channeled over a 32 Frame. I sold the model A frame, a few days after I brought the deuce home. Finishing up with the floor now. Being retired, I can work on her all day, everyday. Morning till dark. Love my retirement.
