Yes, that housing is readily available in stock form or aftermarket. It fits lot's of GM applications. The other option is to use the swivel type.

Sounds/looks like it would work fine in that arrangement

Why not just make a mold from the paw part?

No one can find one and you can't take a mold directly off of a part because of shrinkage when the metal cools. That is one of the reasons that patterns are so expensive. You have to make the pattern oversize by a percentage in all directions. If it was that easy everyone would be casting part's.

We have tried with no success to find one that someone would be willing to let us use. Sorry about that, with the wording you used it sounded like you just wanted to pull a mold directly off the part.

Here are a couple pictures of the project. I will need to fit it on an engine to get the placement of the water neck. IMG_20170209_184528068.jpg IMG_20170209_184540516.jpg

  16. I had an issue with a T stat housing and the front Carb on a tri power set up and found this for the cure. Might help with getting the hose clear of the belt once the cross over is made.

That could work out quite well in some applications. What brand and where did you get it?

It was originally designed for the B&M 144 blower kits, and the B&M line was sold off to Weiand. Holley owns the Weiand brand now, and for a relatively small lump of aluminum they are mighty proud of that item.

Maybe I should modify the design a bit and make them too. It is amazing that the corporate type seems to buy up all the competition, strip anything good out and throw away the rest. Then they take someone else's hard work designing and pattern making and charge the customer out the a** for it. I am all about making a profit but not all off of one customer. Well that's enough of a rant for now. Back to building hot rod stuff.

  21. That's a Weiand 90845. Fit's GM T-stat bolt holes. I have an Edelbrock C362 tri power intake for Large base 2G carbs. You can Not use a single base gasket, bolt your Carb's on like normal and use any kind of off the shelf T-stat housing. Call Edelbrock teck line and they tell you to Just buy "3" 3/4" spacers. I asked why they don't come with the new manifold or just make the base mounts 3/4" taller on the manifold and got disconnected. You also get to buy 12 longer base bolts and it looks like band-aids. I hate that kind of stuff. The off set T-stat housing let me use factory 3/8" thick base gaskets and move on. What a Blister!! The other option for Edelbrock would to have been to move the T-Stat mount outboard or forward 3/8". I just hate using 3 pieces to do what a better thought out single part will do.

I did a test fit on a 55 331 and it seemed to work fine. I will get the water neck flange welded on this week and then it will be ready for testing. I was thinking of mailing it to some of you guys to test. Like maybe I could mail it to Pist-n-Broke and he could mail it to gimpyshotrods who could mail it to 31 Vicky with a hemi who could mail it back to me. Thoughts on this?

I am slammed with work and suddenly my remote brake reservoir kits are selling. Trying to restock parts to fill orders. This is the 1-1/4" master cylinder cap pictured but I offer 1-5/8" and 3/4-18 caps as well. IMG_20170213_212019707.jpg

Thanks for your patience guys. After the prototype works then the real work begins, making the pattern and core box.
