I just picked up a 38 Lasalle transmission that I wanna use with my 331 Hemi. Any websites or places that sell adaptors and bellhousings? Also…I use to (but lost it) had an article on how to adapt chevy 350 motor mounts to a Hemi. Anybody got any info on this either?

    Thanks.

    Mike

The motor mounts was in a Street Rodder artical about a year or so ago. I had made a plates with holes tapped for the chevy mounts and welded ears onto it to match the hemi mounts. If you want I can post pics. because I never installed the engine.
I made a chevy to cad adapter for a guy. You might get a hemi to chevy adapter and make a new adapter plate to go to the cad.

I know the heads on a hemi are what make them so dang wide, so I venture to say the SBC block is wider.

Batterys are dead in camera. Going out later and will pick some up and post. Don't know what issue artical was in. My son gets the mag and I saw it at his house. I had done mine a few months previously. The mounts will be wider than chevy because the mounting ears on the chrysler stick out. Won't line up anyway because the chryslers are so far forward.

Picture of mount. I made a 3/8 plate to fit the chevy mount and then drilled and tapped to match.Ears welded on to match Chrysler.

I offer a picture of the adapter plate I made for a friend that has a 350 in a 40 LaSalle. If you could find a hemi to chevy adapter and find or make something like this you would be set. They were avail. in the '60 for $20 or so.

Yeah I had one of Bo's fab men start building a frame for it last weekend. I have maged to find some good swap meet parts. Now it's time to start gluing all the pieces of the roadster.

There is this guy in So Utah that sells Lasalle adaptors for the long block Hemi.He has none for the short block. Of all the **** luck!

I can't believe nobody else has leads on them! Maybe I should turn this into an off topic post about magazines or something.

Thanks again to Andy for the info. I reckon I'll just have to have something made up.

    the37kid,
When the engines' exhaust manifolds are installed, the SBC is ~1" wider. It's because the Hemi exhaust ports point down, while the SBC exhaust ports point out horizontally.
