Anbody know if in 54 it was the 331 or was it the 271? Or both. Any Hemi-guru's please enlighten me. I am looking for one for my truck and well I don't know shit about the early Hemi's. Last I ever read into them, they were kinda the bastard engines at the time, a lot of mis-matched parts from the factory?

331 and larger were in the chryslers and anything smaller was a different block from DeSotos and Dodges...
331 in 54 would have been in a full size chrysler. Early 54's had the extended block and later ones had flat-back blocks.

  3. There's a guy in Dayton with a bunch of early hemis.
when I get home, I'll shoot ya his email.

All the Chrysler hemis up until 1956 (meaning '51-'55) were 331ci. 1956 was only 354ci, 1957 and 1958 were only 392ci, and that was the last year.

'53 was the last year for the extended-bellhousing version of the 331. Pretty much every year had slight changes to the engine, though, so just because the ci matches doesn't mean the parts will. In GENERAL, 331's and 354's are mostly compatible. There wasn't ever any Chrysler hemi less than 331ci, anything less than that is a Dodge or Desoto. 5. His email is ***BlueKnightWillys@aol.com****

    minus the stars of course.

He has a complete 2 carb 392, and a bunch of 331's and 354's. Most are stuck. Seems a little high on prices, but then again I am a cheap f*&k!
