That right there is the best advice in the thread. Do a flatty now, while you have a gold mine of knowledge available. You have the rest of your life to do a HEMI.
My plan is to do a medium chopped coupe on new duece rails, i'd like to find an X member to stiffen it up and i'll find an early olds or buick rear to get that power to the ground. Thanks for the advise Kevin, it's something that has defintely been on my mind the past few days, and i know that my contact with Vern is a gold mine of knowledge, but i just can't get the money i'd need to build up a flatty drivetrain that'll stand up to the kind of "use" that i'm gonna subject the poor thing to. I have the rest of my life to build a traditional flatty cruizer. And Bobs car is comin along nicely, it's been moved so work can continue on it a little easier i think. See you in a few weeks.
Same Crank, As far as being a forged steel crank. It is balanced a bit different but a built engine would be rebalanced anyway. I wish there were 10 of the poly blocks in junk yards around here --they would soon be in my garage!!
Amazing how divided people are on this, but i think i'm gonna go with the Hemi, for the power, look, and to be able to say "Yea, it go a HE-MI"
