I just acquired a 1956 Desoto 330 2bl. Hemi that was rebuilt with not many miles on it recently. If I want to later on how much can these be bored, how to add power besides adding just carbs and a cam. This is my first Hemi.

There is a link to the Hemi tech section in my signature line, however, I'm not sure if that question is answered there yet.

My first reaction is to say, "whatever the sonic checks says is safe". The subject of large over-bores on Hemis has really been beat to death here. Large over-bores gain you very little compared to what good component selection can get you. These engines are not your typical V8, like a wedge head motor. Just keep that in mind as you go.

Now, that doesn't answer your question, I know. It was more of just a prepare yourself type of response.

Grap a cup of coffee, a comfy seat, and start reading! The same basic theories apply to DeSotos as to other early Mopar Hemis, as they are all very similar in construction.

Good luck and have fun with your Hemi!
