I've have these rocker shafts and the oiling holes to the rockers don't line up. What can I do to fix them does anyone have pics to match these pics to ? ty
Looks to me like the cotter key retaining hole was drilled in the wrong end of the two shaft's. If those two shafts were turned 180 end for end would that not line up the hole and grove for the rockers? The Wizzard
Don’t worry, it’s an easy fix. Your intake rockers need to be switched with the position of the springs. The pushrod sockets on the rockers would not line up with the cam lobes the way they are now. When ***embled correctly the intake p/r sockets will be next to the rocker stands.
I've never taken apart rockers n shafts before I used to work on chevy n Pontiac stuff yrs ago. Once I take off the cotter pins will the stands n rockers slide right off? Are the stands pressed on?
Good info here: https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/54-331-hemi-rocker-shaft-removal-and-cleaning.585847/ https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/331-hemi-rocker-***y-teardown.809738/
Here’s the condensed version- yours look clean, but when you take out the cotter pin and remove the intake rocker shaft it would be a good idea to check for galling of the shaft and also how good the fit of the rockers is, do you have any excessive clearance? Look for a buildup of sludge in the shaft, if all looks good re***emble as suggested before and you are good to go.
I just took mine apart and the inside of the shafts we're nasty with old oil sitting for years. Hot tanked them will be putting back together in the next week or so racing will slow this project down a little.
when they go back together make sure the stand with a hole in it lines up with the oil hole in the head. one per side.
ok thanks. I've put them aside for now as I'm prepping my engine bay for paint in between the rainy days.
