This post may not have all that much tech but it's another way to make a later dist work in a early Hemi. Last year I had the oppertunity to buy a NOS Roto faze distributor for my up coming 331 Hemi build. It was listed as fitting all 331-392, knowing there were different length shafts I figured if it fit great... if not the shaft could be modified. Once it arrived it was evident that it was a later dist for the 392. At first I thought I would just machine the shaft shorter and re notch the end. ( Hot Heads also sells a kit to lengthen or shorten a dist shaft, basicly a sleeve and some roll pins)After looking at it I thought I may want to swap it into a 392 later so I decided to have a spacer made. With the dist sitting in place you can see how much it sits above the block. A spacer ring was machined up to take up that void. Next a new inner bushing was machined ( as an extension to the orig one) I may machine a groove to accept an O ring for better sealing. Then two set screws to hold it in place, a little lock tight or a peen will do! A perfect fit! All thats needed now is to machine up a spacer for the clamp!
