I’ve rebuilt a 1937 Cad/Lasalle trans and I’m replacing a later model Cad/Lasalle side shift in my hot rod. My transmission adapter is a Trans-dapt model NC-37. When I’ve attached the 37 trans to that adapter it’s not letting me shift into first/reverse. There is a shift shaft that protrudes out of the case and there is no hole for that shaft to go into on the adapter. I can machine a hole for this to go into no problem. My question is why would trans-dapt sell any adapter that didn’t already have that hole? Any ideas?? I’ve posted some photos of my trans and adapter. The other two are photos I’ve found of another style adapter and you can see what appears to be the right hole for this shaft to fit. Both pics of my trans and the other show the shaft protruded out of the case.

The second two pics appear proper. Perhaps the bolt pattern is common to a later trans w/o the shaft?
