  3. No, It's a home built 1" thick horseshoe and a Crank flange spacer. I can mount either a standard or automatic due to how I made the Flange adapter. Bellhousing, flywheel and starter come off 340 or 360. I did them around 1978 and made myself 6 of them at the time. This is my last one.

  4. Oh. Man,,,,,,too bad on the last one !
I may end up going the same route,,,, build my own,,,,but it would probably be more cost effective to purchase one .
Looks like a good job,,,,this is exactly the combo I’m gonna go with for my Desoto.

  5. Tommy; I would have to say unless you have access to a Machine Shop and know a little about things I'd say buy one. What's helpful is to actually see a Kit before deciding if your up to it. Locating 4 dowel pins is critical for alignment and the Crankshaft spacer needs tight tolerance. It has a register for the O.D. of the Crank as well as a shoulder for the I.D. of the new flywheel and a center bore for a pilot bushing. Final thickness is critical for starter to ring gear engagement. The block spacer needs to be surfaced on both sides to make sure things are square to the world. Not that difficult but more than just drilling holes.

  6. Absolutely right there !
I have many friends with access to mills,,,however it would all be labor intensive and I would need to compensate them for their work,,,,that is only right !
And the initial outlay of purchasing the aluminum myself .
I will definitely buy the kit already done ,,,,,Lol.

I would suggest with the fact that the 5 speed gives you more ratio choices and has an overdrive top gear ( I presume that we are talking Camaro/S 10 boxes here) that you will see less rpm's in any given situation.
