Finally made it home with my new Hemi. Got it unloaded and on the engine stand.

Careful that doesn't tip over on you. Happened to a friend; He tried to catch it with disastrous results.

This stand is an old skool HD Lakewood. Been on this stand for 6 months and moved around quite a bit. Before that it held a BBC. I see everyone’s point and appreciate the concern. I’ll look into a 4 legger this week.

Congrats on getting the right engine for your job
My forever enemy is gravitational pull.
When that beast is hooked up to the pavement, gravity takes a back seat.

The guy finally gets a REAL hemi and all you guys can do is complain about the stand it's on. What's happening to this place?:(

    Geez.

To the O/P. Congratulations on getting your engine.:)

The greatest risk to tipping is once it's rotated 90°, then both heads are off to one side and it will tip.

Great engine choice, let me know if you have any questions, I've built a few over the years. ;)

Agree on rotating the motor. Those heads are heavy. However the motor is primed with oil and ready for my next project.

I do need some suggestions. Thinking of painting the motor industrial gray or industrial red like the intake. Comments?

Black sheds the most internal heat. But what ever color floats your boat.

What's it going in? That makes a big difference for what color would look best.

My Hemi's live on carts, not on an engine stand.

I LOVE Hemis! Congrats on adding that awesome hunk to your garage. Are you going to give us some specs on it? What's it going in? Where it is going is a huge factor in what color to paint it. I like them in silver, gold or black for the 1st gen, and Hemi orange or black for the 426 variety. I don't like to see them in chevy orange or Ford blue. Here is a picture of mine in black:

it's easy to make a four leg stand. take a piece of tubing the same size and weld it on the one single leg. then use the one caster and put another on. easy peezy

Nothing wrong with a 3 wheeled engine stand, properly built. This one is large dia pipe, with a wide spread on the rear wheels. It's the most fun, when you get them in something with 4 wheels. 2012-12-27 192011.jpg 2012-09-27 084725.jpg

Nice score! I'm currently running a Red Ram Hemi in my Coupe and absolutely LOVE it. Great little motors.

Congratulations on getting your Hemi and as @Hemi Joel says we need more info.

  30. I have Hemis and both 3 and 4 leg stands. My heaviest duty stands I made myself - all are 4 legs and that is where the resurrection of my blown 392 project is now bolted up too.
