Hi Boys! This is Cap Marty, I was reared in Martnsville, Va.(southside) during the 40's - 50's. I have so many stories to tell I hope I have time ( pushing the late sixties). My first run in with a car was my dad's 48 plymouth, leaving town south on 220 right before the bridge across Smith river,I was sitting in the back seat just finish eating a apple when I reach to roll the window down to pitch it I grap the door latch, I woke up pulling into the old Martinsville hospital. As the doctor was sewing my head my Dad was explaining why the back doors are called suicide doors. Since I won my first encounter with the iron pony, I feared no car. this would have a profound effect on some bone head ideas later in my life. From racing the flats on old rt.57 to Mountain Valley(my first race past the double zeros), my uncle's place in Henry, Va.(my first night runner, a 48 chevy fleetline with a huge back seat). Saturday nights at the Grange in Patrick Springs ( my first run in with the law, a 54 Ford and 90 jars on board and a trip thur a pototoe field), back roads by the race track thur Aiken Summit to North Carolina on the old rt 610 (my first race with a Federal man). Weekends at Fairy Stone Park, the road house on rt 87 from Ridgeway to right across the state lne to Leaksville, NC where I saw my first shooting ( now part of Eden ). Now we have a start.
Welcome from West Georgia. Great Intro. I could sit and listen to those type of old stories for hours. Cooter
