Hey Gang!! I am looking to build an early 60's Henry J gasser and I am looking for suggestions for frame and suspension techniques. This is our first time at this type of project and I have a real decent body to start with. I also have an F1 frame and really nice F1 axel with the springs. Not sure if that is the way to go. Thanks! J.
I think that mite work, the F-1 frame isa typical ladder style frame,...take some measurements to see how it'd come together.,...probly have to shorten the frame can we see some pics of what you got?
If you have no Henry J frame I'd build one from 2x4 tubing. If you put much horsepower in it you'll need to at least box the F1 frame. Use parallel springs in the rear and a cross spring in the front due to the short distance from the nose to wheel CL.
@HJmaniac may be of help. You'll probably want to narrow the axle about six inches; drill the I-beam.
If you're building a Henry J gasser the stock frame is great, and will work much better than trying to make a donor frame look good under it. I would suggest it's a good idea to stub the Henry J frame rails so you've got a nice clean, straight front frame rail to setup your axle and motor mounts.
