Love the steering column!! That's gotta be the lightest one I've seen yet! I'll give ya a shout when I can.

Got my driveshaft back, its all finished up, and the drums. I im gonna have to throw them up in my brake lathe now and cut some of the fins back so they will clear my backing plates. Its worth it to run these somewhat rare aluminum drums.. driveshaft front.jpg driveshaft back half.jpg brake drum.jpg

Did a bunch with the car today. Finished welding the brake pedal then reamed it so it would still slide on the shaft. Then finished up making the linkage for the brake and clutch. 18622850_10209272492273779_15730303_n.jpg 18643820_10209272492953796_1736086384_n.jpg

18622694_10209272496073874_2043549207_n.jpg Had to test fit to make sure i fit with the steering wheel and could still hit the pedals. this took a ton of tries due to my knees hitting the steering wheel

One note. From the photo with your hand on the shifter, I hope that was third gear. With your belts pulled down tight you may have trouble reaching third if the shifter was in neutral.
    Just a thought.

You find Old Henry's axles in some of the strangest places! Met Higgy and his wife at the Steel in Motion show and shared my love of Henry J's with him. Didn't realize that he was from Canada, quite a haul to go racing. He made to the finals and it was fun to watch that H-BOMB going down the track. Keep buildin', a fellow "J" fan.

Makin a steady pace. Made and installed the tabs for the seat belts, and painted all the seat and driveshaft structure so that i could go into the floor construction. and then just got started with the frame work of the floor. floor driv side.jpg floor pas side.jpg

Decided to change the angle the floor connected with the back half of the car. This will give me more clearance for the seats, and HOPEFULLY be easier to tin in. floor change.jpg

Got my firewall and floor templates finished up to the backside of the seats. I feel this is a huge accomplishment. I know its just card board, but i have been avoiding this step.. I'm not sure why. I work tomorrow, so basically i plan to finish the rest of the way back in cardboard tomorrow, and spend Sunday doing the tin. floor.jpg pas side view.jpg driverside cb.jpg

I can do frame and chassis work all day long but I have been putting off all the sheet metal stuff too. I hate thin stuff.

So , now from Cardboard, we move to the real thing. I cut the aluminum with just an electric shear. I don't own much in sheet metal tooling so im firewall glove 1st pick.jpg working primitive.

Getting the firewall cut was easy, getting it to fit...well thats another story. I had to recut the firewall area forward of the firewall...if that makes sense, i should have taken a pic. Anyway, it did eventually fit
