  1. Just talked to my friend in Deer Park in Houston, she's been helping her folks batten down the hatches at their place, and she's heading out in the morning with them to La Grange? to stay with family till this passes...

    Stay safe everyone.....

The shop is battened down, I'm out the door to Dallas. Predictions tonight are that Cat1 forces will reach as far as Austin. Dallas will see tropical storm weather. 100mph wind will reach as far as north Houston and 75mph wind as far as Conroe.

  5. Yup-this thing is getting scarier and scarier..some of my friends are on there way from Houston and last I spoke with them they had gone about 50 miles in 5 hours!!

I live 2 hours north of the coast in College Station. I left for work at 6:30 this morning and pulled into bumper to bumper traffic. It took me 30 minutes to get to work. Normally a 10 minute drive. I still don't have all my employees here. My folks left clear lake at 1:00 pm yesterday and got to my house at 6:20pm. That is normally an hour and a half drive. We have a check point for evacuees as you come into town. My receptionists brother is a cop and was manning it last night. He had a yellow un-airconditioned school bus full of elderly people pull in. Half of them were comotose so he sent the bus directly to the hospital. It was a record high yesterday of 102 F. My hygienists good friend runs three nursing homes in Houston. She had two of her charges die on the way up here. She left at 1 pm yesterday and got here at 6:30 am! The weatherman says we will get 60 to 80 mph winds and a bunch of rain up here. The eye of the hurricaine is projected to come directly over us. I got my water and supplies tuesday night. yesterday Walmart and the grocery stores were out of bottled water and there were long lines at the gas stations. ......and to make this car related. My dad's 51 merc is sitting on blocks in Kemah, Tx. which will raise it approximately 20 feet above sea level. Every time we have a hurricane there is a group of jokers that sit in a bar in Kemah and have a party. The news sends a crew over to videotape them sitting on bar stools with the water up to their butts. I'm thinking the bar will not be there come sunday. I'm hoping the merc fairs better.

    You guys stay safe. :(
I'll mention you all to the Creator.

I sure am glad I live up here...
You couldn't pay me to live in the path of those things... It seems like it's not IF, but WHEN...
Like living on railroad tracks...or, remember when Gomer Pyle let that family move into the shack on the bombing range? Like that...

Maybe it'll turn South and wipe out some Mexican factories, and we can get some of our jobs back...

Best of luck. I mean it.
Check in when it passes and let us know you're safe.

    My door is always open.

My dad's in the same boat (pun not intended, hopefully:() out in Bayport @ the Syngenta Plant. he's the head of the Emergency Response Team, so he's always in the middle of shit like this (plant explosions, as well) Still doesn't make me worry about him any less :(. My fam in League City is out and in various stages of getting here.
We'll get through this if we stick together and I know we will. God bless :D

My sisters made it to Austin (with my nephew). My mom, grandma, aunt, uncle, and their kids turned around at Brookshire and went back- I am not happy about that at all :(
Unfortunately, my son's mom made it out-I guess when you're a worthless, unemployed drug addict, fate smiles upon you!
Not worried about wild natives-League City boasts the largest amount of registered gun owners in the US (98% of the pop ) On second thought, maybe we should be worried....

My prayers are with you all. If anyone wants to really get the hell out of the way, I've got room here in AL. The next one will probably head straight for Mobile though.. :(

Looks like we may have dodged the bullet somewhat. Still going to get hit in low lying areas but could have been a lot worse. I have been on the highway since early morning helping stranded peoiple. Looks like most have gotten into shelters for the night. People left there homes with a full tank of gas and have ran out in about 75-80 miles do to the traffic backup. met a lot of grateful people today and a ton of jerks. One guy became a tuff guy when i told him that was all the gas I had. He said he'd just take my truck. He deceased when I lifted my shirt and showed him a pistol. I guess he was kidding. It's a shame how some people act. I know you act differant when you are scared, but some are jerks all the time. TP

We are very fortunate because of the storm turning east. we are now forecast 1 inch of rain and some 25-40 mph winds. That beats the hell out of 100mph!

My folks got here Wednesday night at 7:20PM... they left Clear Lake at 1:00PM That is usually an hour and a half drive. They just missed the really bad traffic. I would have been wigging if they were stuck in the mess.
It got windy today but still no rain as of this posting 9:46 PM. If i wake up to no moisture I may have to turn on the damn sprinkler as we haven't had rain here for 4 weeks! I feel for the guys east of us. They are in my prayers.

We stayed put. Right in La Porte. Thing that sucks is we drove like 5 hrs to get to Sulpur, La. We have a friend out there. We get there relax and sleep some only to wake up to a evacuation where we were staying. So we just packed back up and drove back to La porte. Went to a friends house and BBQ'd. It got real windy and rain thats about it. My friend out in Sulphur left with us. He had to leave his 3 horses behind. His place took a direct hit cause they are right above cameron. He wants to go back but they said he cant yet. Hopefully his horses are alright. Hopefully all you other Gulf Coast Hambers are alright.
