...................looks like all the prayers helped out again????

PALACIOS ESCAPES UNHARMED BY HURRICANE RITA

The mandatory evacuation order for Matagorda County was lifted at 7:33 a.m. Saturday allowing residents who had evacuated to return to the county.

Hurricane Rita finally came ashore near the Sabine Pass area around 3 a.m. with winds of of 120 mph.....a far cry from its peak of 175 mph. At 6 a.m. Saturday, the only effects noticeable in Palacios was high water in areas that have always been prone to high water.....at First St. and East Bayshore around the ‘humpback’ bridge and the East Bay Marina parking lot.

Friday evening and throughout the night, the area experienced only slight northerly gusts and no rainfall.

............now Johnny...........get your butt back to work!!! That book is overdue...............
(whew! That was a close one. Prayers go to the folks that wound up getting the worst of the storm)

That's a block from our house.....
Talk about a miracle.......We are still in Austin til Monday, then hopefully burn oil back home, after stopping in Giddings to let Marcy lust over me....

Also, we want to thank the Austin folks who offered help, and especially FuelFC-Again!

Thanks everyone , and best wishes for the safe return of all members, their families and friends.....the traffic has proven deadlier than the storm in some cases.
