hate to sound like a tool but could someone please explain the various types of old fords, like whats, the diff. between an A and a T and a tudor and a coupe, etc etc? or could someone reccomend a website that details the different models and such? thanks..
Basically, Model Ts have very narrow ladder frames and were made until 1927. Model As have wider ladder frames, and were built 1928-1931. The 1932s were unique to that year, and introduced the flathead V-8. Coupes have less interior room, and could have a rumble seat, while Tudors have a rear seat in the p***enger compartment and no provision for a rumble seat. a deuce, i'm ***uming, is a 32, and the reason they're so popular is due to the introduction of the flathead v8?
The Standard Catalog of Ford 1903-1990 will keep you busy for awhile. Avialable in the larger book stores. (Books a Million etc.). pigpen
A great way to learn about early Fords is to get some free parts catalogs from Snyders or Langs, two major suppliers. Once you see what all the stock components look like you will have a better idea of what is what. In the early 1960's I built just about every AMT Ford model kit that came out, helped identify the real car parts later on.
[ QUOTE ] a deuce, i'm ***uming, is a 32, and the reason they're so popular is due to the introduction of the flathead v8? [/ QUOTE ] You're right that a "Deuce" is a 32. But the reason that they're so popular has nothing to do with its engine. (I should have said "Not much to do with its engine.") The early 21-stud flatheads are pretty much unloved. The 1932 ones are prized only by restorers. The Deuces are so popular because they're so good looking.
According to the box, the Revell rat rod pickups are '29s. '28s look the same. I've always wanted a '28-'29 telephone booth. I have a gas tank and some '35 Ford 16"" wire wheels and a 59AB ('45-'48) flathead. Maybe someday. pigpen
