I don't think the mods were the result of ISCA points "destruction".. As far as I always knew of this car it was reworked after a collision.
I can totally understand how its style is not for the mainstream, and believe that was probably the point in the first place. Personally I think it's bitchin'. It's everything a Hot Rod should be. (outside of the traditional manual it's apparently be judged by) It deserves more respect than it is currently being given.

Yeah, it's ugly. But I sure could have looked past that just to slip behind the wheel with that blower sticking up past the windshield and ripped it through the gears a few times grinnin ear to ear. Cool car, cool history, cool engine, cool guy.

Should it be restored to it's former glory ??? Yes

Do I respect both the car and the owners history ?? Hell yes

Do I think it's ugly ??? Hell yes, it's a completely different car from front to rear. Wild assed 50's custom in the front, race engine in the middle, and gasser stance and radius in the rear.....

Edit: Do I have a right to my own opinion ??? hell yes I do, and so do you.

Obviously, this car was born at the beginning of radical customs, and over time they began to be more thought out, flow from front to rear became important eventually.

Most of you that are degrading people for thinking this car is fugly would be seriously tearing a newbie apart if he came on here showing pictures of his project that looked like this car. Hell, I'd be telling him to get it outside, back up 20 feet and rethink his vision. A custom should be one complete flowing statement from front bumperette to rear valance.....now days anyway.

Its the last three words of your statement that mean the most. This car isn't from now days, it's part of the history that created that. I'm simply amazed at the level of open disrespect for a piece of history, wasn't one comment about burning it in a barn??? Telling someone to step back 20 feet and rethink his vision on something he is currently building is a far cry from insulting a mans 50 year love affair with a car that apparently was part of every aspect of the Hot Rod world. Show car, drags, Bonneville, and driven regularly??? And look at how old he is in that picture holding the trophey... No offense, but isn't that the dream?

    Well said.

Seems to me a love of Traditional things comes a level of Respect...

For these Old Cars, and the Old Hot Rodders.

    And their History.
