After a lifetime of using holesaws in my trade, I feel kinda dumb not having thought of this trick! That's a keeper idea!

  3. Awe hell, maybe I should have saved it for tech week ? :)

I'm going to have to send Carl lafong a stud. I have an extra since they come in pairs.
Fits right in the holesaw case too.

Vicky, Thanks for the tip! Got any extra shock studs? :) Or can't we just cut down a bolt? (I'll have to check the thread sizes on my hole saws.)

I would grind the teeth off of them ( inside HS) if your using them for a bushing like this , and also using wax on the outer surface of the bushing will help prevent it from chattering/grabbing while cutting the larger hole

  8. Why all the need for that?
It Just makes a very simple thing overly complicated to correct a problem that doesn't exist.

  9. I had to do this trick again today.
I'd imagine it would be quite useful to anyone setting up a ford 8.8 rear end and trying to use any available brackets. The 8.8 has 3.25 tubes and almost everything is set for 3" tubes.

You weld the hole shut and try again :)

If you used a hole saw you use the plug you cut out and weld it back. Smooth out the weld and try a smaller hole saw :D
