They say you can't see it all in a day. Apparently they've never met me on a mission. To be fair, not everyone was setup all the way but my Doc Martins will never be the same after today. Yes, I covered every square inch of the Fall Hershey event today. Orange lot, Chocolate lot, ALL OF IT! Ok, enough with that. This was the first time I made it out for this event, I never really had an interest in going before as I was told it's a bunch of old curmudgeons only interested in pre-war, hell, pre-indoor plumbing parts, but I figured I'd give it a go anyhow.

    Things that surprised me:

-A TON of bicycles were for sale, I actually bought one at the end of the day that I saw in the morning, I have no idea how I was able to find it again.

-I couldn't for the life of me find an air cleaner for my Rochester. I found 2 all day: 1 was beat to***** and overpriced, the other was a Chinese piece of junk.

-At around 5pm, everyone collectively started to close up shop for the day.

-Personal Port-o-potties. I've never in my life seen a portojohn next to someone's swap spot with a padlock on it.

I took over 100 pictures, here are some that are HAMB compliant.

All in all, it was fun time. I went alone so I wasn't hampered by anyone so I could browse at my own pace, which is fast. I know with more than 1 day there is a lot more to see, but with work 1 day had to do.

    Fun times........

  2. Thanks I love looking at swap meet pics.

no way to do every row in every field in one day. You missed a couple of fields.

How much did they want for the belly tank? Was it original? From a P-38 or a Hellcat?

I pulled up a google earth shot, and yep, got em all. I'm on a Mac right now so I don't have MS paint, otherwise I'd do a ghetto map of my path.

surprisingly, I didn't get that good of a look at it. I saw it about 5 minutes after I got there and was too excited to see everything else. I know exactly where it's located if someone needs to know where it's at in the lots.

Hershey is the best! wish i could have went this year... i did it in one day last year, but to really get to see everything that is on every isle thoroughly, you need longer than that.

You must NOT get out much

We ALWAYS have our own PRIVATE port-a-john at the Charlotte Spring Swap meet ... and have for at least 15 years. We lock it to keep it PRIVATE.

The public ones are usually getting nasty by around noon everyday. We are there from Thursday to late Saturday ... so the Port-a-john cost of less than 80 dollars is a SMALL price to pay to have a clean place to take a dump :D

Beatin my feet solidly from 7:30 till when I coundnt do it any longer at 3:30,I still had a few rows that I couldnt cover in the very back.

If I woulda stayed till 5:00 I probably coulda covered the whole joint but I know I missed things.

To do it properly you need a coupla days.

I can do Carlise in a day-Not Hershey.

It was a fiberglass repo. I didn't see a price on it.

I have personally covered Fall Hershey in one day while dragging a purpose built wagon behind me. I'm not saying how tired I was at the end of the day but I do find it easier to do Hershey in a day than to drag that wagon around Carlilse all day, providing its not a mud bog at Hershey like it usually is... ;) Keep the pics comin... I regretably won't make it this fall... :-(

Thanks for the pics. On your page 6 the Green Ford coupe was RIGHT across from an AACA trailer with a for sale sign on it. Kind of blows the No Modifieds rule out.

haven't been to hershey since the early to mid 90's. I hear it's nothing like it was then. if you are doing the hershey that I knew in one day you aren't buying anything. used to do only about half or less in a day.

You are a trooper! Really some nice photos, taking time to share with the rest of us is way cool!! That military Triumph in the orig crate is really something to see. I love the alum. trailer with the cool windows in it, probably new, but very hip. Thanx!! ~Sololobo~

I did hershey wedensday too. lots of cars and bodies looked sold. bought a 40's hudson bumper for my 50 dodge truck and a chrome valley cover for my 331 hemi. I thought there wold be a little more hemi stuff though. was suprised about all the 409 junk however. I only live 20 mile away and this is the frist I went sine I was a kid. probrbly do it again next year. Their was an odd roadster body with a turtle deck that I almost picked up. it was long and nobody knew what it was. it was in the field farthest east towards the road. I think he wanted 975 for it.

Crap now I really feel bad about deciding not to go, but I need to get the garage in shape so I have room to work on the project this winter. That and not enough funds to make it worthwhile.

Plenty of time to start saving for next year though, thanks for sharing.

I'm going tomorrow, hope the weather holds. I've never been able to see the whole thing yet. There's just no way I can properly look at what's out there runnin' through row after row. Hope to find some good stuff that I don't know I need until I see it.

    Fiberglass...:(

I made out like a bandit yesterday. I couldn't believe how much stuff I found that I had been hunting for a LONg time. Prices were very reasonable too. This is the first time I've come home from hershey with money in my pocket to spare!

Fiberglass is fine by me. If I ever want to have something cool at maxton or bonneville one day and not spend the 3-4 grand on a OG tank then this is definitely the way to go. The speed gods could care less if you built it from fiberglass or steel but I understand it's missing the heritage.

I took a big pocket full of money in the hopes of finding that crazy deal. I was threatened by the wife that if I came home with another motorcycle i'd be sleeping in the garage next to it. thankfully for my sake I didn't see anything that would have put me in the doghouse. As far as the truck cabs, no prices, but I did see a VERY rough but workable cab for $150 in the area in front of GIANT stadium near the road.
