I've been lucky enough to have attended Hershey since the days of the airfield and the bi-planes selling rides. I've been sunburnt, windburnt, soaked, frozen, raring to go(AM), and dog tired(PM). This year I almost got run over by a jackass in a SUV speeding in the flea market. I also saw Clark's coupe(nice car!) and Meghan hanging on the fence watching the racecars(nice girl!). I can't walk as far as I once did, but I enjoy what I can do. I've never felt the need to beat up an AACA member or whine about not getting my way. I'm glad so many people have gone to so much trouble to give me so much enjoyment every October. Hershey is a National treasure for car guys.
That's why I stay home and sell stuff on eBay. Hell, I had one pair of headlights I carried around for like 18 months with $50 on them. Couldn't even get an offer, and I would have taken half that if someone had waved it at me. Finally started them on eBay for $25 and got $55 or so. Can't beat that with a stick. There's no reason to take less money in person when you spend more in gas and for the space to go set up at a show. As for Hershey, I let my buddy go, he likes to camp out, I don't. He can advertise all the same stuff I wouldn't be able to sell if I was there in person. I miss out on finding more stuff I can sell, but I have too much crap now. And I get to hear back about all the wonderful people he met, including a few from here.
I love these old pics of the field layout. Is anyone on here old enough to remember the horse track that would have been just about where Horseless Carriage Club 's tent is now? It was where the road turned to go into the swimming pool of of Hershey Park Drive.
