Hershey is free to walk in, No Gates! You will have to pay for parking most likely. Alot of the swap meet guys pack up Friday night so usally the swap meet on Saturday is alot weaker but good buys can still be made. Saturday is all about the Car show. If you go to the show on Saturday, try to get there early. They start letting the cars park at 6:00 am. It is great to see all of this stuff actually running. The other year the only running Chrysler Turbine car came driving in. Very Cool to hear that thing run. On Friday is track day. It is sponcered by the Eastern Museum of Motor Racing, (where Larry has his show) I think it usally starts around 10:00 It is when they make sure all of the race cars run. Great to see this stuff on the track as well. Usally at least one drag car as well as alot of old sprints, Indy cars etc. Great to watch and free as well. I will be showing the 53 Kaiser on Saturday. It will be in the HPOF class. The roof rack will be on it so you won't miss it. Stop by and say hi.

  15. 53 Kaiser.... A friend has a 53 Buick Skylark and I told him he should take it up(just for fun) The car is all original and unrestored. What does it take to get into the show? Does he have to preregister?
    Thanks Clark

Clark, everything at Hershey has to be preregistered by 2 months ago. Otherwise they would be more than overwelmed. You need to be a AACA member to show at their shows. I don't show for trophies. None in the HPOF class anyway. I just go to hang out and see the cars. Actually taking a car has got me great leads on parts for cars over differnt years. Guy comes up and says he had one years ago and has this and that do I want them, Ah, yes please. Alot of the older guys are pleased that someone younger (35 now) are interested and will be glad to give you stuff. Last year I had trouble getting away from the car, because so many people wanted to talk. As much as I love rods & customs I still like stock cars as well. We will have several cars in the Car Corral area for sale as well. This year it will be in the Giant Center parking lot. I showed my Frame off restored 58 plymouth savoy there 10 years ago. The motor was built up with factory Fury 2x4s, isky cam, etc. The motor was chromed up. I was first in line for Judging and a bunch of us were just standing there talking. The judge comes up and tells me he will give me a few minutes to clean my stuff out of the trunk since I am first (tool box, cooler, clean up stuff) I told him to just forget the trunk, I came to meet people and have a good time. I don't care about the points. He just looked at me and couldn't believe it. They knocked me for the trunk, chrome dress up on the motor with chrome acorns. Old gauges under the dash and old racing decals on the windows. I still got a third junior because the rest of the car was perfect. When we left, I slid under the car and uncapped the short lake plugs they didn't see and drove back to york with open pipes. When I fired it up in the parking lot everyone turned around. Fun is what it is all about. Thanks for posting the pics, Skate Fink! Scott

  17. 53 kaiser..Thanks
Here's my friends Buick. It is original right down to the paint. His father baught it in 53 (he was the second owner) He gave it to both his sons last year. I helped them get it back on the road after it sat for 25 years. Their father was in tears when it showed up in the driveway under it's own power. They took him to his cancer treatments in the car but he passed away a couple months after. This was one of the most rewarding jobs I've done.

  18. Unk, I REALLY envy you. My good buddy and I have been down a coupla times but not lately. First time was in '95. Next time down, we saw ourselves in a picture on page 99 of the Hershey book!

That's me in the red shirt, shorts & walking boots (need a haircut).

Hope to get there next year. As the days grow shorter in late September, that's the ONLY place I wanna be.
    Have fun. [IMG]

I'll be there on Friday, shopping list in hand. Will be looking for '34 Plymouth more-door parts for my uncle-in-law's project.

Clark, The Buick is a beauty. Those jobs really make it worth while. He should joinn AACA and show that car in the HPOF class. ( historical preservation of original features.) It is for unrestored cars. The class gets bigger every year. That car would have people around it all day. A few years ago I had a 58 Blevedere I bought from the second owners. Looked just like Christine. All original unrestored. The original owner found out I had the car and he bought it. I just thought it was so cool that the car is back in the garage it was when new. He sold it in 1976 because his wife pestered him that he didn't use it. When he bought it back it only had a few more miles on it. I have had alot of older people come up to me over the years to admire cars I have had because they once owned one. They are so excited that I will let them sit in it or take them for a ride to relive some memories. Later, Scott
