Just a quick intro. My name is Ben and I'm just south of Nashville. Some might know me from some bike forums. I was into old hotrods until I finally figured out a Triumph 650 was easier to get in to the living room and keep codes off you than a '66 El Camino. Tired of getting my heart broken when I'd have to get rid of cool projects when times got tough because of how much room they took, i went to bikes and haven't owned anything with 4 wheels in many years until a few months ago. Bikes are fun, bike people these days, not so much. I've been a truck and car mechanic for nearly 20 years. It's a hard life. Shops expect miracles, but never want to pay you much. Most shops wont let you work on your own stuff in the shop, so you end up dragging your tools home a lot. You learn to haggle and barter and trade labor for everything. Most bike shops hate seeing me. They can tell right away I'm broke and asking how I can do something for myself that they get paid to do. If I buy anything, it's a rebuild kit or gaskets. Kinda stuff they don't make much money off of. At least with cars there's little I don't know or can't figure out on my own. Since I'm getting back into 4 wheelers, mostly out of necessity, I figured I'd get on here to get ideas and maybe make some new friends. Maybe I can finally figure out how to shave door handles without warping the whole car door.
