I was talking to my bud, Chip today about the town of Bisbee. He spent the week down there and found a cool hot rod/bike shop in one of the "suburbs" and ended up talking to the owner. Turned out to be the Broken Spoke guy and quite familiar with events and such. Says the town used to be real popular for hotrodders and bikers but the towns are being overrun with the "earthy" types. Here's my thinking, would it be too much to orgainze a reliability run and con this guy into being the final destination. Maybe set up the main starting point in Tucson with legs coming from other directions like Phoenix, even New Mexico?! Would anyone attend? Would anyone be willing to drive 170 miles for a sandwich and return home? Just putting that up for consideration. I would like to see more of this type of event here. Even do something up in the north country for a summer run would be cool. Arizona has all sorts of little parking lot shows and they serve a purpose but outside of the Goodguys Scottsdale show there aren't any major or semi-major events. Some of the smaller clubs put on a decent show but to be honest they lack a certain something. Ideas???
Check out Shady Dell Trailer park if you don't wanna drive all the back on the same day. http://www.theshadydell.com/
on behalf of the sinners c.c. tucson chapter and being a man who rides his panhead down to bisbee all the time, we would be happy to do a bisbee run, (old bisbee is nicer if your into history)but im sure we could drag down some sinners from phx and i know that about 3-5 of my other non club affiliated buds would be happy to do this run. make it so....make it happen brother!!!!
I second that ! when would be a factor too maybe not aug w/ 118 outside .Sounds cool let us know more when details are hammered out .I have gone farther than that for a GOOD lunch
i can supply a easy to get to convienent meeting spot here in tucson for everyone to get together for the run.....at my new shop location, right off te freeway, will easily support 50 + cars out in front till everyone shows up. the more i think about this idea the more i say,"wtf are we waiting for???"
oh and jerry...(nice to see ya btw) ... be careful my 327 is going into my truck this week.....lol....we might have to race a little....and hey check out my post on it, just bagged.
I would love to, unfourtunatly i dont have anything driveable that wouldnt get me laughed off the board... so theres that. Mabey with a little rigging i could get the 52 driveable for one day... hmmmmm... would probably be a little shady, but im ok with that.
Jay told me last week that was getting ready to leave for the summer...maybe plan to do it in the fall?
Yep, let me know when and where. I know all of my roadster friends down here would love to go. THey are always looking for a place to go for a nice drive. They do that kind of stuff once a month on a weekend day, and there areabout 12 of us in the 'hood here.
Very cool! I will give him a call next week to see if he is up for such mayhem. Trent, You've done this before gimme some insight on how to pull this off.

Well, KISS, thats the easiest way. Try keeping the group small, less than 10 cars. If there is say, 25 cars, split it into two groups with each group having their own ROAD CAPTAIN. The road captain is responsible for keeping his group together and on track.RC, also needs a p***enger to constantly look back at the group. How you can lose 10 hotrods on the same road in less than a minute is beyound me, but it WILL happen The two groups can run close but independant. Kinda like playing golf with two foursomes. Put slower cars to the front. I prerun the route unless I already know the scenic overlooks and the gas stations/food stops. Be spontaneous, allow enough time to pull over for things not planned. Cool architecture, old tin, cold beer. One thing we learned on the KCSP the first year was to call ahead to lunch stops and such. We swarmed into the little drive-in and they were totally unprepared on the blustery day. We tipped generously and thanked them for the h***le. Also, print out a simple map. Even the best group will get split at a stoplight SOMEWHERE! If the navigators in each car can keep the driver in the right direction, things will run smoother. Above all, have fun! You are actually driving your car and not sitting in some lawnchair. Just make sure you buy good gas
I'm in. If it's on a Sunday or in the morning there's enough parking to meet and leave phoenix from my shop. Be careful what you ask for this could be big. Look what happened to the central cruise.
we could meet here somewhere in tucson then take the scenic route to tombstone hang out a few minutes the roll to old bisbee. that is the best route...plenty of scenic views , gas and food on the way, breakdown space....honestly the nicest scenic cruise we could have would be that way. let me know i can help you plot the co****
Hey, it sounds great. I have looked for someone to drive to Payson or Globe or any 1 day run. Just like the fly boys. Drive up for B'fast or Lunch and come home. Keep us posted.
Ok then, I need to get some contact info on those interested in helping. Some suggested routes are welcome! Dates to do this? May not be able to do it before it gets hot but mid September just has the right ring to it. Is there anything going on around then that I should be aware of as to not create a conflict?
