Awesome picture. I'm a big fan of your roadster as well. Next time you see him, let him know that people still appreciate "Project '29" here on the H.A.M.B. all these years later.

An iconic roadster for sure, well cared for thankfully, much admired by many of us.

Desatoff painted it the second time, after it had been on the road for a couple years. When it left our shop, it was painted and buffed.

HI BUD!!!!----Reading this thread brought back the many memories of our trip back to the 1972 NSRA Nats with you & "Stroker" & the line chasing events that occured daily.-----Now after 300,000 happy miles & line chasing, I have given my '32 roadster to my son to enjoy as I did since 1968. I drove to the Detroit Nats in 72 in my 29 roadster. Parked around the pond with all the West Coast guys. I felt as though I was in hot rod heaven. They were all very friendly and the stories about the ride across America were second to none. I will never forget that weekend.

Great stories & pics about my friend Bud Bryan. Sometime I'll post some pics of when he, Tom Medley, Bud Lang & Glen Hamaguggi (?) came from Ca. to our little rod run know as the" Williamsburg Rod Run". That was in 1973 or 4. R&C did coverage of it that fall or winter issue. Tom & I had met before & he said they ALL wanted to come to Va. We all bench raced all night & Bud talked about his project rod etc. First thing Bud said was where are all the dancing girls ? Bud was/is a great fountain of Ca. info for us "easterner's". I don't know how the hell he ever fit in that roadster. Those were great days. Bud Lang stayed a week or so & we did garage scenes (also in R&C later). Tom stayed a day or 2 with me & just think he wanted to hang out with our Doberman. (he had one too). p/s : I was doing articles for R&C off/on in those days. They paid $60 per page , I paid for film. Haven't talked to Bud in a couple years, glad to hear he's still hangin' in there. Probably still looking for the dancing girls....right Bud ? Alan

Hey Joe ! I was there too in '72. I remember some of the security people around the hotels with shotguns. It was the time of the riots there. Yep that was a shock seeing so many "street rods". Hope you are doing well. Alan the "Flatlander".

Alan, those were the days. My 29 showed up in the issue of R & C that covered the Detroit Nats. There was a photo showing the rod repair area with my frame getting welded after I hit one of those raised man hole covers on 8 mile. Crazy week.
