I'm McGurk in Orem, Utah (about 25 miles south of SLC) it's a nice place for bring up a family. I spent the first 18 years living in Redding, California and after high school it was off to the Army at Ft. Belvoir in northern Virgina. After the enlistment was completed we ended up in Utah. My current project is a 1963 Ford Falcon Futura. It's a most triumphant little car-2 door sedan,4-speed,V8,traction-loc rear; I'm talking all the right stuff! All you gearheads with knowhow as to what I might do to/or instead of the 260 V8...p*** it along. Thanks
Welcome to the board. Not sure if your vintage car is the main focus of this site, but welcome. As for your Falcon, dump the 260, it's a small boat anchor. Two easy motor swaps. You can go traditional and build a 289, or drop in a roller cam 302. You have a 5 bolt bellhousing on your 260, which means you'll either need a 64-65 289, or you'll need the 66 and up 6 bolt bell to run a newer small block. I've done both in the Falcon platform and either one will be more than sufficient to exceed the limits of factory brakes and suspension. Mustang and Fairlane parts interchange on both areas, so take some advice and make sure she'll stop and steer while you're at it. If you want tech advice for the swaps, send me a PM.
