I'm sad I don't have my mini chopper anymore. Savage stole it from me. hehehe. Anyone know a good project for me to start my old car adventure's with? Lemme know! The Beave
Whatever you build...make it different. It's tiring seeing the same type car done in the same way all the time.
What do you want? Pre-war? Post-war? Want to build a hot rod or a custom? There's cheap stuff everywhere, it just depends on whether you want it or not.
There's stuff all the time in the classifieds. You're lookin for advice as to where to start or you just want a project? What do ya like. The key is to shop and when you see it and a picture in your head as to what it should look like then go for it. Then all ya gotta do is figure out how to turn the picture in your head into a running driving rod/custom of some sort. BTW glad to see you peddled the minibike and are thinking about getting serious.
Build an early sixties four-door into a "touring sedan." Beef the suspension and the motor, lower it all the way around (not Rockasilly low, just handling low), paint it an era-apppropriate factoryish color, use skinny whitewall radials on the stock wheels with wheelcovers and enjoy driving a stylish old car with modern performance every day.
My dream is to own a 1973 Chevy Nova SS, I really want to start from nothing and learn as I go.I want to start with something that I don't care too much about, not my dream car because chances are, I'll probably end up hacking things together.
whoa, your in the wrong place "bro". i hope your joking about the 73. im gonna pretend i didn't read that.
Why not a 73??? Gotta start somwhere an I cant think of a better one to cut up.....heck go full custom. Tunnel the taillights, hideaway headlight the grill, suicide doors, and (you'll like this wicked) chop it till it looks like a hatchback and channel the front subframe to get it on the ground.........maybe thats a little much to start with for a beginner..but man would it piss off the muscle car guy's!!!! Seriosly Get a late sixties caddy...their cheap, reliable easy to work on and run forever, not to mention they got class and it dont take much to make it look custom. My step son did just that, a 66 deville, dropped it flake paint and bellflowers and he was the envy of the high school parking lot!
