Hi all. Just wanted to introduce myself. I'm Archie, I'm from eastern Iowa. I love anything that has to do with working with my hands, woodworking, motorcycles, cars, working on my house, etc.... I'm not a pro by any means but I've owned a few rods and a few bikes in my years. I lay asphalt by trade, and I'm married and have a 6 mo old son. I love pretty much all music, but I play bass in a heavy metal band. Here's my Myspace and my bands Myspace.... www.myspace.com/archiemeboy www.myspace.com/sixteenstorywar Currently I have 2 motorcycles: a 1981 Ironhead, and a 05 custom Shovelhead that I built form the ground up with my own 2 hands. My wife has an 89 Sporty. As far as rods I've just aquired a 1941 Ford 1 1/2 ton stake with a Flathead V8.(well it's not in my shop yet, it's still buried in the mud behind a buddies farm.) I've had several different rods over the years including a 73 Dart swinger, a72 Duster, and a 73 Duster, but my favorite above all was my 65 Chevy c10 longbed fleet.(aaah I miss her so!) As far as rods go I am a traditionalist, I truly belive in the traditional stlye, no matter the era. If you're into salt flat than try to stick to salt flat style if you're into gassers than do it gasser style. The problem with traditional is it is very expensive. So if your idea of traditional is buying over priced junk off of some slob just because it's old than I may be in the wrong place. Just because it's old doesn't mean it's an antique. However on the other hand I am not fond of guy's who bolt a bunch of old cabinet handles and skulls to an old car just so they can call it a "rat rod". W....T....F....!!!! I'm not ignorant to the fact that back in the 50's guy's probably weren't chopping 1 1/2 ton trucks, but it is in my price range...free... And I'm not gonna buy a $300 puke tank just because it was an a car from the 50's but I am gonna stick to as many traditional parts and styles I can reasonably afford. So if your idea of traditional is taking an old vehicle and modifying it to suit your own tastes, using as many of the original parts as possible, and doing as much of the work as with your own two hands as possible....Than I'm in the right place! I hope you keep me around because I have ALOT to learn and hopefully a little to teach also..... Just a hello from Archie....... later........ here's a few pics for ya........
