hey new guy here, am one of the crazy people who built a car based on a japanese car from the eighties, this car is getting hard to find, and this one is def one of a kind. i detest buying anything from the store myself, i would much rather wander through a junkyard to get ideas on what i can use. my car has no aftermarket whatsover anyway. no big wings for me or ugly body kits, this is old school stuff only. and it still has a carb!! :D as a matter of fact i have been working on a project for a couple of years that is a custom manifold with two SU type carbs from a 72 datsun 510 sss, got it off of ebay, the original one that is, and have been fabricating up the manifold, and all the parts since. made my own air cleaners for example, after a bunch of things didn't look right, i ended up finding 2 stainless steel soup bowls for a dollar apiece, welded the rims from mr gasket air cleaners on them, leaded the seams, and now have two one off air cleaners. oh the club i belong too also belives in 0ld school building, these cars still had carbs and heavy iron blocks, as a matter of fact it was the last generation for iron blocks honda ever made. tough old engine,300000 plus and still going strong, been driven all over the US in it's lifetime. i work in an aircraft plant,so a lot of the stuff on my car is inspired by and salvaged airplane parts, i even have an altimeter in my center console. at the moment i am installing a m***ive alarm system. sadly people don't respect how much time and work you put into a car,so it becomes needed. i judge success by the fact that most other guys who have japanese cars, don't like anything i've done to it. lol. everyone wants to know why i don't put a big wing on it,or big "bling" wheels, just isn't my style, i have my old 89 simple integra aluminum wheels and will be putting bf goodrich radial TA tires on with raised white letters soon. latest project is a voice warning system from an 82 datsun, whats cool about it is the voice isn't on a chip, it has an electronic controller, but the voice is on a tiny record inside of the module. so when it's about to say something, you hear CLACK whirrr then about 3 seconds later it talks. ummm...Welcome!

You realize this is a site about pre 64 traditional hot rods, right? Doesn't sound like what you are into, but come in and look around.

hmmm well i like traditional hot rods too. grew up around them. i enjoy seeing peoples projects anyway, and i may be working on an imported car but i still do things the way people used to do them . if i want something i make it from scratch or build it from something else.

i do think some of the younger guys need to spend more time around traditional hot rods, i see too many people with bolt on stuff, and the tradition of doing it yourself or figuring out how to make other stuff work seems to be lost. i really like the site i belong too, since we have no aftermarket for our cars, a lot of the guys have gotten really creative. this can run anywhere from simple cosmetic changes to designing complete turbo systems from scratch and making them work. i'm talking about making their own exaust manifolds etc. we have a mix of some older people with a younger group. the primary reason i joined this site was i enjoy the traditional hot rods as much as the new stuff. so i will be looking at some of the projects and be around here. :D
