Dang! This was't an ad on my part! I just thought a senior citizen type could use a break, he did't respond however, but several guys have responded to the "give away". Anyway, it's gone now to a guy who wanted it for his son to learn on/mess around with. I am Butch/56sedandelivery.
We are in the same age bracket. You will likely use it for 20 years or so. Buy a used better brand and leave it in your will. I have a Miller 330ABP which is nearly a collectors item and intend to use it for a while then give it to my son.
For a budget welder you might give this a look: http://www.northerntool.com/shop/tools/product_200441249_200441249 At one time Northern's house brand was Clarke welders made in Italy not China.
When my 110v mig from HF broke, I ordered the replacement wire feed circuit board from Lincoln. I'm not much on brand names, just look at the product. Have had good luck that way. Maybe the same circuit board wouldn't have burned up if it had been in a Lincoln.
