Anyone found longer tongs that fit their HF spot welder to replace the 6 inchers? Got a brand and part #? thanks,
I've got a HF and a Miller spot welder. The Miller tongs fit the HF. It's just 5/8 diameter for both. The Miller is 4 times a HF.
thanks! Got a model number for your Miller? The local welding shop had trouble just looking up tongs in general. They came up with $800 tongs that I suspect must have been the water cooled designs...
If all else fails you may try the "Dayton" tongs. I have had a Dayton spot welder for over 35 years and it has never failed me even in production work.
We have one at work and just bought some 5/8 copper rod and bent them in a vice. Posted using a number two pencil on a paper napkin.
There are several different grades of copper available here. I'd talk with them for advice. Looks like 6 or 8 feet of rod is about the price of one set of ready made tongs. I'd figure out the replaceable tips and do it. http://www.onlinemetals.com/merchant.cfm?id=88&step=2&top_cat=87
