I haven't degreed a cam for 15 years and I need to do it again (on a new engine build). I discovered that the last cam I installed I had 4˚ advance built-in. I live at 7k' and the engine only has 8.5CR so the tech suggested I advance the cam 2˚ over the figure in the cam-card. Well, to do what he told me required me to retard the cam 2˚ to satisfy the figure on the cam-card. Meanwhile, all the guys at sea-level would've just set it "straight- up" and been 2˚ advanced over me! That has always bothered me (even though the car does drive real nice). I don't think about chain-stretch because that engine has a gear-drive. I hope I can figure out what the tech really meant when he said to "advance the cam 2˚ over the cam-card"! Should I have set it @ 9˚ BTDC?? haha!!

Ya, I've introduced myself by degrees. The subject of my introduction is what has brought me here. Notice that I did not ask any questions… just where I'm at relative to this scene. Thanks for the welcome, mate! I'm just looking around. This is a very cool forum!
