Hi, I´m new at this forum and also a newbie in Hot Rods. Living & working in south Sweden. My first project is a -28 Ford special coupe. It´s allmost in orginal shape except for a couple of things. Last weekend I had it up running for some time and it was the first time, I had to change the point in the distributor and also changed the condensor and some other stuff in it. The engine fired up after a couple tries and was running until I killed it with the keyswitch. After an hour or so I tryied to start it again but the starter didn´t turn the flywheel around and there was a wooshing sound from the starter, after that the starter got stuck and I had to remove it and disasamble it on my workbench. I saw one brush that was lifted up and didn´t had any good contact to the collector, fixed the brush into place and put it all up together again. Today, saturday I was out and put the starter in place to try if it could turn the flywheel this time. When I had the bendix-drive wheel to the starter side of the rod it turned the flywheel over for the first time I pressed the starter rod but for the second and third time it didn´t do anything beside making this wooshing sound. Does anybody know what this strange sound is and how to fix it so the starter will go all the way in to the flywheel? Every little help will be appricated. Thanks guys!
Welcome! you won't get an answer in this forum because not many people look here. Try a search in the hokey *** message board. If you can't pull an answer up there then start a new thread and ask your question like you did here. If you have not introduced yourself yet it will be hard to get any answers. I'm not a mechanic but it sounds like the starter bendix is gone. Good luck to you. THANKS, BOBBY FORD
Thank you. Bobby Ford. I will put in the question at the forum. I hope not the bendix-drive is wasted, but I don´t know either. Brg Andy
