I guess I should properly introduce myself now that I signed up and all. Names Marc, if you didn't already guess it. I'm a maintenence electrician at our local utility company. I've been into cars since I can remember. If it's got wheels and looks cool or goes fast I pretty much dig it. Last fall I bought my first old-timey car from a friend who lost interest in it, and didn't have the $ or no how to do much to it. I had great plans and laid out over the winter what I wanted to do to it. But now that it's warm enough to work on it I have a new opportunity to do something I'd rather build. I'm waitng for the delivery of my new project, 1940 Chevy pickemup truck. More rat rod than the Ford Customline. This will be my first rat project so I'll be learnig along the way. I've been reading up on everything from suspension and body mods to engine building, and I've learned tons from this site and searching the internet. I'll be sure to keep progress of the truck posted for everyone to share in my mishaps (most likely!) And look forward to learning more tricks from all the seasoned builders here.
marc, welcome to the hamb. do yourself a favor and use the search function here on the hamb to read about how people react to the word "rat rod."-- it'll help you out a lot (dont use the word here, is my advice.) -scott noteboom
That's okay. I really don't care what others think of the term "rat rod". If you're offended by it I appologize. Call 'em what you want. I guess I meant to say "nostalgic custom motor vehicle"...if it makes people feel better.
