I wanted to say hello...I've lurked around here for years and thought it a good time to be social. Long story short, nearing my fifth decade and I grew up around street rods. Dad was into '39 and '40 Fords. First engine I tore apart and rebuilt was one of his Flatheads. I went astray and bought a 1957 Oldsmobile Super 88 as a daily driver in my teens. Restored and drove it every day for five years, sold it and later bought a '56 Olds Super 88 4-door hardtop. Sold the '56 in 2009 and bought a 1941 Buick Special (SSE) Sedanette which I still own. And, I just picked up a 1957 Oldsmobile 88 4-door hardtop a couple weeks ago. Still like the prewar Fords, but quite never looked back from Buick Straight 8s and big block Oldsmobiles. It just became my thing Anyway, the '41 Buick is an older restoration, but a continual maintenance project in progress. The '57 Olds (which I've taken to calling Mrs. Marjorie, after her first owner. I'm owner number two) is going to get a driveway, daily driver worthy restoration and some mild custom touches with the addition of some of the Super 88 chrome. Good to meet you all. I know some about Straight 8s and more about the 324 and 371 Olds, but not anywhere near as much as some of you on here. I'm a shade tree mechanic and hobbyist without portfolio or a professional shop. Any advice I give is good for 30 minutes or 30 miles, whichever comes first. Looking forward to talking with you all and getting/giving advice where I can. I'll try to find time to upload pics of past cars as well at some point. For now, here are photos my '41 Buick and '57 Olds. Thanks!
