Hello. Just thought that I would say hi. I'm 24 soon to be 25 and from the Hartford, CT area - but Frequent Rhode Island on the weekend I have a '33 Ford Pickup that i'm building (not quite true traditional but with many traditional influences) It has a 2x4 Box Tube Ch***is that is Zed 4" in the front and 10" in the rear, Hand built Bed, Ford 9"/4Link CoilOvers, 4" Dropped I-Beam with Hairpins/Vega Cross Steer, 396 BBC with 3 Rochester Dueces, Th350Auto (For now) will be a 4speed hopefully. I'm looking for a new cab for the truck as the one i have now need quite a bit of work to even get it to where i think it would be good. Anybody know of a good one available? I'm willing to travel and pay $$$$$$$$$ for a nice cab. Anyone going to Hershey/Carlisle/Turkey Rod Run with one???? I also have a '69 Chevy StepSide Pickup that I just finished restoring. Hopefully I can post some pictures later
Welcome to the HAMB, pics would be cool when your able. Good luck on your cab search, how bad is the one you have?
Here's some pictures of the '33. I don't have one of the bed. well i do but i don't know where it is right now. the second picture is of the motor that i'll be putting in it. Cab Condition: well I guess it isn't all that bad considering it is 70+ years old. The Main Issues is that it has no door skins cause P.O. cut them off..and cut them extremely close to the lower body line (I have new door skins from Wolf Steel) but i'm afraid of welding so close to the body line as it will be hard to get plastic up there and get it to look right. the other problem is in the roof line across the back of the cab. there area where the roof bolts to the cab back is pretty thin and spliting in some places. I plan on choping the cab 3-4 inches but wanted to leave the "bolt on" look. The cab is pretty pitted as well. It can be fixed but i keep asking myself is it worth it to put in the time???. The doors are so nice...i wish he didn't cut them that short. even if he left an 1" or 2" it would have been alot nicer and easier to weld the new skins on. I've already spent alot of time putting in the '33-'34 style firewall as it kicks out on the bottom - unlike the flat piece of steel that was in there. I've also spent a goo deal of time making the custom floor/****** tunnel. (Both of which can be put into a different cab though..so i guess it isn't that big of a deal) Sometimes I look @ the truck and want to jump in and fix it, and others I look at it and I'm disgusted with it - and get pissed off that i bought that ****py cab. I want a '32-'34 Pickup so bad it hurts - so @ this point I'm more like "I don't care what it costs...I want something that i'm going to like and want to keep..so I should spend some serious $$$$$$$$$ for a nice cab. oh and a little more about myself: I work as an insurance appraiser writting estimates on damaged vehicles/working with body shops etc. etc. I've been into cars/trucks since I was 15 - mainly trucks...the only car I've owned was a '66 AMC Rambler American that I put a 355 Chevy in
