HI Everyone, I went to The Hunnert Car Pileup today. I had a Blast but was to shy to talk to people. I would like to make some friends so next time I go to something like this I have someone to say HI to. I live in Janesville Wi but am from the Chicagoland area, still visit there often. I am not just looking for friends in the Illinois/Wisconsin area. I want to talk to people all over interested in music, lifestyle, clothing, and other such things. My Boyfriend is a hobbyist and I am pretty new to to the idea of hotrods. I am wanting to learn more about them. Feel free to e-mail me @ gothpunkgrrrl@aol.com I look forward to talking to you all, Pigtials
Hey pigtails, I'm new here too but I'm glad to see more and more people getting into the hobby. Is there anything in perticular that you are intrested in? I'm also looking for new friends all over, we should talk. littledeucecoupe427
Oh boy........Now, I suppose we're gonna have a sub-HAMB thread where we can go to get dates, discuss cuffs and pedal-pusher pants. Traditional hot rods and customs, boys and girls. That's what we're about here.........not 50's culture or chrome dining room furniture! 'Scuse me for being so **** but just look at how many newbies are signing up on the HAMB. If we don't keep it on topic, we're gonna have a huge bandwidth bill for Ryan to pay.....
Damn Rocky, what a crusty ol'fart you are!,,,,,,HUM,come to think of it so am I. There is a lot of way of topic **** going on around here as of late that don't have anything to do with traditonal cars. HRP
Hmmmmm read the last line of one paragraph: "I'm new to hotrods and WANT to learn more". Sounds like Pigtails came here looking for car info not just lifestyle ****. Pigtails: Welcome BUT understand this is trad style rod and custom board, NOT a greaser lifestyle board. Keep it to cars and you will get (for the most part) some great info here and learn a lot. Have a thick skin, keep your ears open and this place will be great as it is full of kick *** people!
Its good you want to know more about cars, this is the place for that, but it is not a dating service. That way you can become less of an accessory for your BF. Learn more than him, build a hotrod, dump him
I don't think she has any yet ****, but if you ask real nice maybe she can get him to pose for ya! Just make sure she sends them by E-mail OK? LOL We don't want to see them! Bill
[ QUOTE ] I don't think she has any yet ****, but if you ask real nice maybe she can get him to pose for ya! Just make sure she sends them by E-mail OK? LOL We don't want to see them! Unless she's an "Orca Bettie", speak for yourself!! Bill [/ QUOTE ]
Hey 'tails, Firstly welcome. dont let these old geezers put you off. they really hate the pretenders that come and whine on this board about everything bar traditional rods and customs. if your new (like me) to the car scene, just sit back for a while and soak up the info. you'll learn alot. if you have a specific question to ask...ask it. you'll probably get heckled or insulted at some stage...there is a few thousand people on here...you cant please everyone. for everyone else...dont be to quick to write someone of as a rockasilly just becuase they are new. if you actualy spent a bit of time teasing out of them what they are into before you scare em away...could actualy have another convert...scare em away and its another one lost. Danny
[ QUOTE ] I don't think she has any yet ****, but if you ask real nice maybe she can get him to pose for ya! [/ QUOTE ] that would go real good with my collection of "hellfire(tm on bike ****" i was hoping for some pics of PIGGtails...

Danny [/ QUOTE ] Yea what he said. Hell, the only people I heckle are the people I like, and well... by the way Piggy, the only way to learn is to get your hands dirty. jump in and ask what ya want, we all have some kind of an answer, or not. how new are ya anyway, I got a grand daughter that's 7. oh yea I forgot, welcome to the HAMB. if it don't make ya dirty it aint yours

OK... 1st off, I would like to thank all of you who have been supportive & have encouraged me, Thank you for not judging a girl who likes both Cars & Clothing. Yes I have **** pics but you aint' gettin them! To those who judged me...BACK OFF, oh so sorry I offended you. To me, Hot Rods & Rockabilly go hand in hand, or so I thought. OH HOW HORRIBLE, I thought I might find a few people to talk to who like both...deal with it! SO maybe THIS will impress you, My Boyfriend & I are starting a Henry J g***er style project together I should also add He is teaching me lots but I might gain some different perspectives here. Fine if I want to talk about rockabilly lifestyle I'll either find another board or, hell, I might even start my own board. YES, I am interested in learning more about rods. I think I will just sit back, watch & learn. Pigtails
How bout photos of the Henry J? What are your plans, engine, suspension etc? Now you are talking about a topic that interest us all. Welcome, dont go away.

[ QUOTE ] SO maybe THIS will impress you, My Boyfriend & I are starting a Henry J g***er style project together [/ QUOTE ] Is your boyfriends name Dan? Does he work as a mechanic at Beloit Ford? If so I met you at the pile-up. I am the guy that was with Todd (tweaked47, still a lurker). Good luck on the HJ project. (By the way we may have found a rear for the g***er) welcome aboard, later, TDC
BARNEY RUBBLE was a ROCKABILLY. and another famous ROCKABILLY would have to be LITTLE JOE CARTRIGHT from BONANZA,, ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,he had a HAIR of WAVES, that would KNOCK the VINTAGE clothing BETTYS, straight back to "MAMMA'S 50's THREADS" in NEW YORK"......... LIFESTYLE and ROCKABILLY??? interesting COMBO, being HOW most ROOTS ROCKABILLYS were DIRT poor, and MOST greasers were from the SLUMS........ RICH kids DIDN't HAVE time to MAKE the SCENE in ROCKABILLY CLOTHES.. besides that KINDA music was still considered *****E music, and it was OFF LIMITS...................... Maybe in the 50's WOMEN were more concerned about not getting caught DRINKING then they were SEARCHING out a DUMB CHERRY print UMBRELLA, and some FAUX MATCHING bow, and HAT...........to make the scene at VIVA LAS ELVIS...........................??? it's all WRONG these days... TATTOOED ****S and DIRT BIKES and COORS beer... ROCKABILLY is FAUX PATINA, and *** CLOTHES.. real PEOPLE in the 50's shopped at WOOLWORTHS... germ
For once, I actually understood what Germ said. and for the record, who cares what she looks like...its all about cars, remember? welcome, pigtails.
man stringamort you think these guys were givin her ****. you shoulda seen how it was back when the hamb was small. newbies got a roasting. Some would say they werent comin back until they found out it was just new guy initiation. Oh well those days are gone but it was fun. Jack pretty much nailed it now lets see the henry J.
Janesville? Janesville, WI? That's where I'm from, and visit almost weekly. I'm teaching Shop in Evansville now though, just up the road. Welcome aboard. -Jeff Tanko
[ QUOTE ] in the Illinois/Wisconsin area. I want to talk to people all over interested in music, lifestyle, clothing, and other such things. [/ QUOTE ] Welcome aboard! I'm glad you had a blast at the show. We TRY to keep things car-related on this board, and rockabilly and clothes ain't nearly related enough. FYI, if you want to talk about lifestyle stuff, I suggest you sign up for http://groups.yahoo.com/group/chicagorollers/ or http://groups.yahoo.com/group/rockabilly_in_the_midwest/ you will meet all sorts of people interested in that stuff there. A LOT of them were at the Pileup, too. Just try to keep your posts here to car stuff and grumpy old men won't jump all over you... unless you like that
Welcome Pigtails, It does my heart good to see couples work and play together! Good luck with your project, work at your own pace and budget constraints, and learn from this board as we have....lots of good people here! Johnny and Kali
