Hi my name is chris, and I bought a 54 chev Bel Air and am going to restore it, and of course modify it. I already have modified a 62 pontiac, but it was already in good shape, so I think its time for a real challenge! one question that has been nagging at my brain is , can you match up the original transmission with a SBC, call me crazy, but I like 3 in the tree,
hope to enjoy great conversations with other HAMB members on this topic and many others see you soon-Chris

Hi, Chris. You will need an aftermarket adapter to bolt a sbc to your '54 car transmission, but a three speed from a '48-'54 Chevy truck would have the correct bolt pattern for a sbc bell housing and would still bolt to the torque tube driveshaf in your car. Don't expect to beat on it very much, or your next thread will be entitled. "How do I replace my stock rear end with a newer, stronger one?".
