I purchased this car about a year and a half ago. At that time the plan was to just get it running as soon as possible. I have been driving the car since this spring as a hiboy but have wanted to put the fenders and running boards on so I think the time has come. The first pic is my car now and the second one (which I love) is the look and stance that I am hoping to achieive. I am not sure I am ready for this but what are your thoughts, opinions?

  3. I like the idea of fenders but without the chop.

I've had several chopped cars and I have learned I'm just too darn tall to be comfortable in a low lid.HRP

Im with hrp on the unchopped look. To me a hiboy says I,m badass and a fendered car says I have a bit of class.

Don't be a pussy, chop that thing. Look how bad ass the chopped fendered one looks. Stock roofs look like tractors.

Best looking chopped fendered 5 window in the country, Mark Morton's primered/white walled coupe now owned by swanwaco. I would post the same picture. It's even better with Basic Bob in it.

Keep the wheels, add fenders, and a full hood, then paint is gloss black. Bob

I like the look of a 5 window both chopped and unchopped but they do look so badass chopped. I am going to chop it, it is just a question of how much. It will be more than 2 inches because at 2 inches people still wonder if it is chopped or not. If I am going to pay to have it chopped I want to be able to tell it is chopped.

Two inches is a wussy chop. Cut it like the one in the pic.

Yup, thats the plan, any guesses on how much that one is chopped? My guess is between 3 to 4 inches.

I'm getting ready to chop mine and I'm going 3 in the back down to 3.5 at the front.. Chopped deuce 5 windows look the best with a slight wedge chop over a square cut. IMO! I may wrong but I think the Hop Up 5 window is around 3.5. My first five window is on the cover of the May 1979 issue of Street Rodder. Built in 77. Chopped 4 inchs?

  19. My thoughts and opinion is that they definitely look better with fenders and a nice rake.

The transformation has started. I will post pics as this goes along if anyone is interested. Here is where the car is at. Mine is the one on the right.

if you're goin for hot rod tough..put split bones or hairpins on the front,
or at least paint the street roddy 4 bars black so they don't show.

(did I just say street roddy?)

while I'm on a roll, ditch the Guide 962C's and go with the Guide 903J's like those on Morty's...(they might even be Arrow 775's).
the 962C's mounts will put them too far forward on the headlight bar...my .02 cents

^^^^^The whole front end is coming off and hairpins will be used with a 5 inch dropped axle. Headlights are gone to.

Yes...Henry at Steadfast mfg. is doing my car. His talent is off the charts. I am so glad he agreed to do my car. He tells me when he is done with my car it will be BADASS! From the cars I have seen him do I am sure it will be.

Here are a couple pics that Henry just sent me. He is going to do a little more fine tuning on the chassis and then start on chopping it.
