while we were standing around my friends fresh built transmission waiting to decide we were finally ready to get it back in the truck, the owner decides just out of ignorance that i should stripe the top of the bell house. well i wasnt gonna turn down a chance to get the brushes wet. so here ya go. any of y'all have any little hidden details on your rides that for the most part will go unseen, but are cool just b/c you know they are there
Right on. My brother and I just replaced the trans in my '37 Plymouth last week (it had warmed all the way up to 35 degrees, so we said why not). It would have been way more enjoyable if we had pulled the old one down, and seen some pinstriping.
kinda the main reason i did it, in hopes that some 40+ yrs from now someone pulls it out and ,if nothing else atleast gets a smile out of it
Not exactly pinstriping on a bellhousing, but the car I'm workin on now (NitroFC's Dodge) rides only maybe 2 inches of the ground in the front. The bottom front of the fenders and grill shell were completely ignored by the previous painter. Bodylines are about as straight as Rosie O'Donnel, blatant unsanded runs, shit like that. I've got more hours in just that section, a section that 6'5" Al will never even hope to see, than the previous painter had in the whole car. I call that a hidden detail.
i pinsriped the cowl on my nomad before the fenders went on so someday somewhere down the road in the distant future someone will pull it apart & get surprised. -- i also striped the inspection cover between engine & trans. cool trans by the way!
An old friend by the name of Danny Hall put Playboy center folds on the botton of his glass T bucket's when he glassed in the floors. Only could be seen when on your back and looking up under the car. Great for drive shaft work!
A 4 foot x 3 foot section of roll and pleated Pearl Vinyl snapped into the area above the rear end on my radical '57 Chevy, left over from its show car days of 1965-'69...it was snapped in place there when I found it on a used car lot and I wouldn't take it out for anything now. R-
blasted & painted my old bellhousing & it was sittin around a week or so & i just just happened to be painting purple stripes on some ladys motorcycle side covers so i thought hmmmmmm left over purple ok ill lay some stripes on my bell. its not visible once in my 34 truck.
