Went back to the Upper Midwest last week for family matters, and got to thinking about some cool cars that were in the woods behind some church friends old place in the boonies. I remembered that my first heavy make out session was in the back of an old Hudson in those woods, with my friend's visiting cousin, and I was curious to see if anything was still there. Drove down the dead end road, and beyond the turnoff to the closest neighbor's house, the road was full of weeds and looked rarely used. Pulled up to the now abandoned house, got out and there north of the old house were glimpses of metal in the woods. Grabbed my camera, and here is part of what I found.

The 37 LaSalle rocks, but the 53 Hudson coupe is where it all happened, and love those cars. Check out the dash!

So... I tell my brother later what I saw, and how I would love to get that coupe back on the road. He says no problem, I'm good friends with the old owner's daughter & new husband! I'll get on the horn right now. He gets off the phone and says.....she does own the property, but her ex-husband got all the cars in the divorce. WTF!!! I'm still bummed, but it was good to see these gems after more than 40 years, and at least know they have not gone to the crusher...yet. I have not completely given up, nor tipping anyone off to the location at this time. ;)

I would bet there are hundreds of stories about cars back in the woods from some of the oldtimers here on HAMB makes you kinda nostalgic, doesn't it?

I couldn't identify the old wooden spoked car that was chopped up. Here's a picture of the grille. Can anyone tell me what this is?

That Grille looks an awful lot like a 1927 Essex I had several years ago.

Some good looking projects there. But looks like you might want to refresh the bedding before the next make out session. The ladies generally tend to prefer fresh linens when possible.

24 Buick, absolutely correct. searched it, everything matches.....

  15. Those Buicks had a lot of wood in them, it's possible it just plain fell apart over the years. Some good stuff there -

Thanks for the ID on the Buick.

Stude Trucks - A little clean up is in order, and she also had a bit of vintage smell to her. A little Fabreeze in probably in order. Here's another shot of the Hudson, with a couple Studies in the background. I gotta quit looking at these pictures - driving myself crazy!
