Looking to do this into my 55 F100 project ,, wondering if i can get some input as far as AMPS are concerned ,, there are a bunch of inexpensive ones now available on-line ,,,, many with volume knobs , can i still use the PAC LC-1 for volume , ??? , and where do i set the volume on the amp itself ,,, the amp will be hidden , not readily accessible ,,, thank you guys ,,,,, Jim Prowse ..
I had posted this in another thread about wanting an out of sight-out of mind radio the other day I would definitely use it again. there are probably cheaper methods, but this was worth it to me and as it was really simple to install. theres a small rubberized remote that will flush mount in a rectangular hole also for forward/back tracks and volume controls. And the wired remote, I just put it a little out of sight but still plenty accessible in the seat divider/ center console
I tried it, but I must have did something wrong. I could never get mine to work. I am suspect of component failure. They have bluetooth amps now. I think I may go that way and alleviate a bunch of the hassle. https://www.crutchfield.com/S-Nc11t...hannel&nvpair=AG_General_Features|FFBluetooth
I'm going to use a JBL Charge2+ bluetooth speaker in my rods...Yep, portable! share the setup between the two. It also doubles as a phone/device charger, so no more dead phone batteries. I will be wiring a USB charge port as well for backup backup!
Hey B, Great choice. Those JBL speakers are so good it is hard to tell if they are huge 6-9 inch speakers. In a closed car, the sound is pretty nice. Yes, they have a dual use factor built into them. We were just in a Sprint Store yesterday and the sale guy showed us a couple of JBL Speakers. They are not too expensive and can hook right up to your device, Ipod Touch, Iphone, Android, etc. (Bluetooth or direct wired to the RCA plug.) That is very handy. My wife was very impressed at the dual usage factor and if we get tired of it, we can always give it to our teen granddaughter. Jnaki Here is a story I did for a "Music in Cars" thread back in January 2017. While my wife was getting a phone for her, then, 96 year old dad, I was wandering around the bluetooth speaker section testing all of the models. The comparisons vs price was fun to do for our next purchase. https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum...-what-works-good.1039238/page-2#post-11849972
My son bought me a Turtle Beach Bluetooth speaker for me for my 50th birthday I use it in the garage/backyard etc.. thought why not take it in the hot rod, sits on the seat next to me or on the floor near the shifter between my legs sound is very good, hides in the glove box when I get o where I'm going...
Hey B, We have all of our MP3 digital music on our Ipod Touch devices. They hook up to any USB port and play beautifully. (one of the Ipod Touch devices plays through its own speakers...not too bad.) I have a 2nd gen Ipod Touch 4, no speaker, no bluetooth... My wife's new Iphone has the music library on it, but rarely listens on her phone. We don't like listening to music on the phones as it runs the battery down much quicker than just using it for talking or texting. Yes, we are old school. But, in addition to our old school ideas, we do have Amazon Prime Music for free on our phones. So, if inclined to listen without taking over the storage capacity, it is there with our library. One final thing, we use Shazam to listen to something that catches our ears/brain. It identifies the song and performer. Then if we really like it, it is found on Amazon Music or Itunes. Jnaki My son has informed me of Spotify and other music services. They are available, but we like to have the Ipod Touch device in either glove box ready to play on longer drives. No worries about having to recharge or wearing down our important phones. We just have a gaggle of portable charger batteries ready if needed. What do we do on drives up to 2 hours or so? Why we talk of course...my wife is an avid talker... When I am by myself driving, I like to listen to the sounds of the powerful motor and acceleration. We grew up listening to loud rock music of the times, during the 60s and 70s. Our ears are tuned to that sound. But lately, we don't need to have those ear buds sticking in our ears walking around or blast tunes while we drive.
Hidden is okay as long as it gets cooled. If it is 100 watts it is going to get warm, 200 watts is going to get hot (if you are driving the speakers like any responsible adult should be). Heat and amplifiers are a recipe for a quiet ride home.
I went with this same principle. Used one from Boss--nothing special, but it is 4-channels and was $90-I have zero complaints. The remote looks identical to this Kicker model except for logo.
I used something similar to this in my Chevy. It is a Bluetooth receiver that connects to my amps in the trunk. It controls volume and tracks and also has a 1/4" plug if you don't want to use Bluetooth. Mounted it in the dash. Works great. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Audiopipe-...m=352226790815&_trksid=p2045573.c100507.m3226
I ran across a Kenwood 4 channel amp with BT, last week. It has a remote for volume control and was less that $200 from various retailers.
