    Gang,

After paging thru 1200+ posts on a big Willys thread here, I could only find one example of a fenderless Willys coupe (a gasser-ish street rod, but nicely done). But it is a very contemporary build.

Just why do I want to know? Well I've been wondering how many small vintage coupe bodies might make (or might have made) a cool fenderless hot rod build - Austin, Bantam, Willys, Anglia, Fiat, etc.. back in the day. And since I perfer the looks of the 30' Willys over the others, that's where I started my search.

But from my recollection, the use of these small bodies (or other small, US made coupes?) was pretty much restricted to drag racing, and only in the later years of the "eligible" cars this forum covers.

Anyone? Seen any? Can you think of any other good candidate coupes? Thanx, Gary

These are shots of my old car.Scanned from photos, so crappy quality. The first is where I built it. an old manor house turned into a Residential School that I worked at. Then I shipped it to Carolina and drove to Bonneville, stopping at hot rod shows along the way! The summer of 1992.
    Cheers,

WHO in their RIGHT mind would do that to an Anglia!! :)

There was a 33 Willy's coupe that shows up at the Charlotte Goodguys that is fenderless. Looks pretty cool. Only problem is the put a homemade grill on it and it would look SOOOOO much better with a stock grill.

There is also a pic floating around of an old Willys race car (maybe dirt track) that looks stock from the cowl forward and maybe homemade on the backend. No fenders and COOL!

I think the best way to pull this look off is to make it look like you just blew the fenders off. Not too many mods or it strats to look freakish....like the Willy's above.
